Characteristics of wood
Niangon is an African breed of red-brown color with demarcated sapwood, acquires a bronze hue over time. Grains slightly interlocked, growth rings unexpressed. The texture is medium, dense, with a natural luster. The surface is oily to the touch. Wood has medium resistance to fungi and insects. It tolerates temperature extremes and moisture, however, it can not be used with constant contact with moisture.
Niangon lumber requires additional protection in the form of a filler and other preservatives. It is polished, takes varnishes, stains. Toughly cut due to high density and hardness. Glues well, holds fasteners after pre-drilling
